Make reservations at Duke’s! It’s right on Waikiki and a very popular, romantic spot. Great food, too. Here is the link to the restaurant:

not to bust anyone’s bubble….but Duke’s is NOT romantic! it’s a fun place….expensive but think more college groups than romantic. but definitely don’t miss their breakfast buffet!! yum yum! there is a few quiet like resturants in the Starwood chain along the beach itself…unfortunately i can’t remember the names of the resturants as i had a bit too many mai tais the entire week i was there…..
but i will say this….if you and your husband are the partying type (as me and my husband are) there is this guy that runs on the main shopping strip with a folder selling Pub Crawl tickets. it’s $40 per person. so worth it. we did the Tuesday and Friday we had so much fun. it’s mostly set for college kids….but we had an absolute blast. good luck. because when they say you will crawl home….that’s exactly what happened.

The Shorebird Restaurant is really good. It is in the Outrigger Reef on the Beach Hotel. That is where my husband an I stayed on our honeymoon in September, 2005 and found the Shorebird an excellent restaurant. It is right on the beach and the place is completely open so you get the breeze off of the ocean and can watch the sunset depending on what time you go. In the evening they also have someone playing music like a guitar or something quieter like that. The best part we thought was you get to grill your own meat. This is the entire style of the restaurant, you order what you want, steak, kabobs, whatever. Then there is a buffet with salads and miscellaneous other things. They bring your meat and they have this huge grill with seasons and BBQ sauce that you can put on your meat and you get to cook it the way you like it. It was really good and it was a nice restaurant to. We actually ate there 2 days in a row it was so good. We are planning another trip to Hawaii in 2008 and that is a must for us to stop. Hope you have a great time and congratulations on getting married!

I wouldn’t recommend Duke’s either…not for a romantic dinner but it is a fun place with good food…Personally, I don’t care for Roy’s but it is very popular…they have two locations, one in Hawaii Kai, which is maybe 20 minutes from waikiki but i dont think they have much of a view…the one in Ko olina is nice but thats maybe an hour drive from waikiki and if you go Mon-Fri night you will get caught in the worst traffic of your life!

there are lots of great romantic restaurants in waikiki since its on the beach so you get a great view…places like La Mer (French) and Orchids (great breakfast) in the Halekulani hotel are great…i’m sure if you are staying in a nice hotel in waikiki there’ll be a romantic restaurant there…but it gets very crowded and sometimes that ruins the moment and the beautiful view…id say leave the waikiki area and head on over to the The Kahala Hotel & Resort…its maybe 5-10 minutes away from waikiki in the upscale kahala area and no other hotels in the vacinity…it has a private beach so it isn’t crowded…I’ve been to 2 restaurants there, Hoku’s and i think the other is called Plumeria’s. Hokus is very romantic..you’ll have a great view of the secluded beach anywhere you are seated…the food is fantastic but pricey and the service is very accomadating…it won an award in hawaii for best fine dinning this year…Hoku’s would definately be my first choice but its a popular place and the might be booked already…Plumeria’s which is below hokus is great too…its a little cheaper and the food isn’t as spectacular but you still have a great view and there is a great buffet thurs-sat…check out the hotels website … other notable places (may not be as romantic, but the food is great) Alan Wong’s, 3660 on the Rise, Hy’s Steakhouse, Palomino Euro Bistro, Hiroshis…and make sure you don’t leave hawaii without having some local food (plate lunches)…but try to skip the “chain” drive-inns (L&L and Zippys) ask locals where there fav place is…mines is 30 minutes from Waikiki so you might not want to go there…its in Aiea called The Heights Drive Inn

I agree with everyone else. Duke’s is definitely not romantic. But they do have terrific food if you are looking for somewhere to eat another night.

Roy’s also has great food, but the Maui ones aren’t very romantic either. I haven’t been to any on Oahu, but I’m assuming they are similar.

The most romantic restaurant I’ve been to on Oahu was Nick’s Fishmarkt at the Waikiki Gateway Hotel. Fabulous food. Very quiet. Very private.
