Luxurious vacation for little to nothing, is that possible?
ChiLady asked:
My husband and I have never been on a honeymoon, so I am trying to find a nice resort. What I want out of the vacation is a nice room, big whirlpool tub, outside prefer in privet setting. Fireplace with a plush couch to while away the hours on. The setting should be on a lake or in the mountains. Or better yet near the ocean. LOL As you can see location isn’t as important as what the room is like. Though I do have to say I don’t care for a lot of people to be around. Does any one know of a great resort in the USA? Cost really does matter; I have about 1,000 to spend on the whole trip. And I am looking at about 7 days for this trip. I thought if I did it on some off seasons that might cut the cost. Thanks for any help that is given.
It would have to be sometime this late summer or later. Can’t get off enough time until after Aug.

Check out Tybee Island just ouside of Savannah, GA. There is a lot to do there and they have some nice places to stay. I went there over the winter for a break and it was nice. Where do you live anyway? Savannah was a 10 hour drive for me in MD. Also VT is very nice and peaceful in the fall. I know Rutland, VT the best, but i hear all of VT is nice.

$1,000? See the thing is, America is expensive. It seems like it would be more expensive to leave, but think Costa Rica. You could be in a beautiful place and $1,000 is a lot of money there, better value. You could get a hotel there by the beach…secluded beach, for a lot cheaper than an equivalent in the states. Plus, off season may be the summer there, (I’m not sure) cuz it’s hot. Flights are not that bad either…the cheapness of things would probably make up for it.

First – look in places you can drive to, so you dont have to think about airfare, just gas money.
Second – look for resorts outside of tourists towns, close enough if you want to go there but not in the middle of it. Chances are you’ll get a nice hotel with a pool, jacuzzi, etc for less cost than say an average hotel on a beach front or in a really hot spot.
If I knew the East Coast (mid to north) wasnt too far I’ll list some of the places I’ve found. Why not check campgrounds? Many of them have lodges or resorts in the middle of the wilderness, they are less expensive than the beach (usually!) if you are near PA try this website click on the region, and then the chart will tell you if any campgrounds offer what you are looking for.
Keep an eye on deals at travelzoo.com, sometimes they have some really good ones that might fit your budget.
Im all about travelling on a budget. I like to travel as much as possible but dont really have alot of $. In fact Im going to the beach for a long weekend pretty soon, found the place at cheaptickets.com, nice place, ocean front, and got a really cheap deal! Best on the beach (I researched)
Good Luck and Happy Travelling!!!!!

I would say a cruise. It is all inclusive, meaning your basic needs and many activities on the boat are included. You do need to budget extra for salon services, alcoholic beverages, tips, and anything you do OFF the boat. And you have to budget to get there, which may not be a big deal if you live anywhere near a port of call, otherwise you are looking at flights to the cruise departure destination. For instance, I live in East Texas and there are cruises departing from Galveston two hours away and a Caribbean cruise would be the best deal.
Sometimes cruises just go out into the middle of nowhere on the water and stay there, without hitting a tropical destination. The vacation becomes the activities on the boat, and while sometimes these are weekend getaway cruises are shorter (they are available for shorter cruises because it takes less time to get to a destination) you may be able to book back to back, or take a short getaway and then come back to just spend some down time at home together to complete the getaway experience.
You may be able to get a great deal filling a cancellation. Check with a travel agent, or a travel website.
Would a cruise be possible?
If not, try a historic destination close to where you live and stay at a bed and breakfast, or rent a cabin.
None of these options really are the five star accommodations. On a cruise living space is tight and not the focus, because there is so much to do both at ports of call and on the ship. B and B is nice but may be too pricey. A cabin would probably be very reasonable, you would have to fill it with your own groceries but other basics would be provided…and again, the activities IN the cabin aren’t usually the highlight of getting one, it is being surrounded by whatever nature there is…and doing those kind of activities to make the vacation memorable. You could arrange a camping trip, even with NEW gear, for well under a thousand dollars and see some beautiful country while you are at it.
Sounds like you want some ROMANCE. Might I suggest that you will get that no matter where you go because you are spending time together and experiencing a new place together?

Check out Branson, MO! There are lots of Attractions, and Shows in Branson, so entertainment will be a piece of cake! You can book everything together, and save up to 50% if you book by using Saving Mo’. My parents just went to Branson for Memorial day weekend, and stayed for 4 nights with a Jacuzzi no less, and saw the Elvis Explosion for less that $300!
